    I was just turned on to watch your honest hearted videos. I have enjoyed them. My question is do you recommend a place where we can buy RV parts. We had we believe our motherboard go out on our hot water tank, which is usually for the gas and electric. It is the gas that no longer wants to work. It will not ignite. We are unsure on which motherboard to purchase without having to go to a RV dealer who will definitely try to make as much money off of us as they can. Do you have any recommendations of places we could go to for these parts? We didn’t think that we were going to need to buy this motherboard because the electric was working just fine. But with these hot days in Illinois and running our air conditioner, it would’ve been really nice to be able to have hot water rather than turning off the air conditioner to run the hot water tank because it was going to have to use the electric only. I look forward to watching more of your videos as I continue to learn about being an RV person myself.

      Hi Lori. Here is a parts website that I have personally used and had good success - www.rvsupplywarehouse.com/. And another one that is popular is this one - www.dyersonline.com/ I hope that helps you get the water heater parts you need. Thanks for watching my videos too!

      Sorry but I personally don't get into discussions about which RV components, like refrigerators, water heaters, furnaces, etc. are better than others. That may be a question that is better asked of experienced RV service techs who don't have any obvious biases toward one company or another. But my take on RV parts and components suppliers is that none of them are really all that great these days. And the best you can do is to try to maintain them properly to help make them last as long as possible.

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare 4 дня назад

      Hi Jason. Many older RVs don't have a lot of miles on them as they have only been used on occasion throughout the years. But my advice would be to make sure that regardless of the mileage, a fluid analysis is done on all engine and drivetrain fluids to verify the internal condition of those components before buying the RV.

    First question, what broke on your towbar you failed to discuss that? I tow a vehicle with my RV and I do the exact thing that you recommend. It’s nice my RV has a rear camera that actually points down so I could see the tow bar and half the tow vehicle at all times. The second question I have I can’t remember. Safe travels :-)

      @RVInspectionAndCare 5 дней назад

      Hi Ron. One of the arms of the tow bar that connects to the base plate on my Honda CRV just sheared off up close to the hitch itself. So the car was being held by only one arm as we traveled through heavy traffic in Ft. Worth TX on a major highway and it was moving around from side to side of the coach as we went. I'm just glad that the other bar held in there until I could get the rig off the road and stopped. It was an experience we won't soon forget.

    Thank you for the video. Looking forward to watching the towing videos that you recommended. Overweight isn’t just for towing. I had seen this past Sunday where a half ton pickup had a water tank in its bed full of water. Those rear springs had to have been flat as when we passed him, his front end looked as if he was almost doing a wheelie 😂. He definitely needed a 3/4 or 1 ton for that job. By chance have you ever done a video on truck campers? Either tips to look for, brand quality or anything on that subject? That would be interesting to watch. I noticed that there wasn’t a guide on that type. I’ve been researching on what type of RV I would want should I ever decide to purchase (after renting of course). Enjoy your travels out east. I produce a new Class C and used Class C buying guide to the better built brands that I feel are the best places to begin in a search for Class C RVs. But I focus entirely on build quality and customer service from the brands that I recommend. And I don't agree with some of the prevailing recommendations out there now that a certain type of refrigerator, air conditioner, slide system or roofing material should be avoided if you want a quality RV. To me, the level of attention to detail in constructing an RV is far more important. What are your thoughts on grand design lately? Or TT/5th wheel brands?

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare 10 дней назад

      Hi Betty. I personally feel that Grand Design struggled a lot to maintain quality during the Covid pandemic years like many other RV manufacturers. But it seems to me that GD has been unfairly singled out for more than their fair share of criticism in recent years, perhaps because they had such a great reputation for both quality products and customer service going into the pandemic and it was a big surprise when they didn't live up to that reputation when Covid began. But I have personally inspected dozens of new GD products in the last coupe of months and I found that their quality level has risen dramatically again and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to new RV buyers at this point. Of course, I realize that saying this is counter to all of the prevailing negativity that is easily found online in social media, but my conclusions are not based on what I have heard someone else say. They are based instead on what I have seen for myself.

      Like I said in the video, I only chose one of the "top-rated" brands for each RV category. And I also mentioned that there are several other brands that can be recommended, including lower cost options, that you can find in my guidebooks on the subject. But a very important point to understand is that if you want to travel and live full-time in an RV, it will require a very well-built rig to hold up to the stresses and strains of full-time living. The average RV will not handle it well over the long haul. So as I said, if you can't afford a high quality new RV, just buy one on the used market that has been well-cared for and fits your budget. I hope you find what you're looking for.

      A lot of people feel that way but then there's a lot of other folks traveling full-time in them. It's a good thing that there's lot of choices for different ways to travel in an RV.

    Question for you… would you recommend Keystone Hideout travel trailer bshwe? I was looking at getting one. Let me know. Thanks

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare 14 дней назад

      Keystone is a high production RV builder. They tend to do much better on the higher end products that they build. The Montana, Alpine and Cougar fifth wheels are well known for being pretty good rigs overall. But as you go down the product lineup in price things get a lot more sketchy. Now that doesn't mean that you can't get a good lower priced travel trailer from Keystone. It just means that consistency gets more dicey on their lower end. So if you choose to buy a Hideout be sure to get it thoroughly inspected first and look for signs that it was built with attention to detail at the factory. Here is a video I made that can be helpful on doing that - ruclips.net/video/7_lm7dpQAp8/видео.html

      @@RVInspectionAndCare One other question for you…. What are your thoughts on a Jayco Jay flight trailer. Researching those particular travel trailers, they seem pretty well built with quality. What don’t think of them for purchase?

      @RVInspectionAndCare 12 дней назад

      @@shermrg3446 Jayco is on my recommended list for travel trailer manufacturers. Of course, they are also a high production RV builder, but they seem to strike a good balance between production and quality better than most of their competitors in my opinion. They are well worth a look.

    What about Riverstone? Just ordered a DRW truck as soon as it’s built I’m buying a fifth wheel.

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare 14 дней назад

      The Riverstones that I have personally been through recently have seemed to be very inconsistent with quality. One is fine and the other next door isn't. When they are done right they tend to be a good rig. But when they aren't the opposite is true. That's typical of high production manufacturers like Forest River though. So I would definitely not buy a Riverstone without a thorough RV inspection beforehand to make sure that it's up to scratch. I hope that helps.

    How do we find an inspector in the area where the trailer is being sold?

    • @RVInspectionAndCare
      @RVInspectionAndCare 14 дней назад

      Just visit nrvia.org and select "Find An Inspector". Then you can view all of the local inspectors on the map there and contact them about their availability. Any certified NRVIA inspector has the necessary training to provide a top quality RV inspection for you. I usually recommend choosing the one that you feel most comfortable with
